Receptionist is only available until 22:00 unless you notify them then they’ll will stay until you arrive for 50.00 polish dollars. I wrote them and told them we would not arrive until one am and they said they’d wait for us for the 50 dollars. Once we arrived no one was there and we waited 30 minutes. Luckily I had a few minutes left on my European phone and was able to call them. Ten minutes later they arrived and the power was out. They still charged me. The staff hardly understands English

For location you can’t beat what you get for the price at 4 Friends. I had a private room and bath with 2 twin beds and a small couch- more than enough for a solo. Nice kitchen and social area upstairs with morning basics such as coffee, tea and corn flakes. Any conversation upstairs can be heard on other floors so that is a bit of a minus. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful however and I was pleased with the hospitality. For what I paid, $25 in the off season in a pricey tourist area, I would definitely consider them again if ever in Gdańsk. Remember that even though there are private rooms, this is hostel living and you’ll want to bring shampoo, soap and other basics you would expect at a full service hotel. Some items like hair dryers can be borrowed from reception though if available.

We stayed in one of the private rooms on the upper floors. We had a private bathroom though we had to access this with a key across the public access hall/stairwell which was a bit annoying for the pee in the night. The shared areas upstairs with kitchen facilities are very nice and clean, plus tea/coffee/cereal was provided free of charge. The construction work is quite noisy as others have mentioned but more annoying was the party boat on the river on the bank holiday weekend, playing dance music at regular intervals 2am,3am,4am! Take earplugs if you are there for a bank holiday! Lack of aircon was a bit annoying as it was very warm in August and the sun shines through the rooms in the afternoon - meaning a heated room for bedtime. However for us these were minor quibbles as the location is great - you are very central. Our welcome was fantastic and bags stored without any issues as we arrived v early before our room was ready. There was a great coffee shop just round the corner (though not super cheap) and we thoroughly enjoyed the Dominica Festival. Thanks for a nice stay.

The location is good, the staff is nice, and everything is clean - but if you can't handle noise, don't choose this place.

One thing is the noise from the outside (restaurants, construction work and so on), another thing is the noise from inside. You hear everything that's going on in the rooms above, under and beside you, and the same goes for the bathrooms. That makes privacy close to non-excistent, even if just using the toilet.

Let me add that the bed was awful and in great need of a new mattress, so all in all getting some sleep was a bit challenging.

Also note that there are steep steps and no elevator.

Location:prime
Hostel:new & sparkling clean (great beds)
Rooms:smaller than expected - cramped with 4 people getting in the lockers (under bed) but ok for sleeping
Pictures: accurate (rooms, kitchen, common area)

I liked: hostel is small - not a lot of competition in the morning for kitchen/bathroom. Check in until 22 means no late night arrivals while you sleep.

Only suggestion: automatic locks for doors - our room mates left door unlocked

Great experience, already booked again!
